Problem:

professional translation services for dropbox
Dropbox was looking to localize its home page demonstration video in an effort to connect with their international customers who do not speak English. They needed professional translation services to get the job done. The company had to collaborate with a specialized translation, voice over and graphics company to create a video that would draw interest from anyone visiting the site. The client knew the importance of localization and adaption and how crucial they are for international business expansion.

Solution:

Metro worked with knowledgeable and professional translators to translate and localize the client’s home page video. We used experienced voice over talents whose voices are friendly and inviting. Our graphic engineers produced high quality on screen motion graphics to represent the Dropbox’s creativity and forward thinking.

Details:

Dropbox had been rapidly expanding internationally, and high demand called to localize its website and demo videos into multiple languages. This called for every message, each page, and every detail of an application to be translated and adapted for every single language, country, region it would be presented for. One language our client wanted to localize its homepage video into was French. Yet, when Dropbox started looking for French translators and voice talents, the company quickly realized there were major linguistic differences and cultural nuances between French Canadian and French from France. Because of these differences, the same translator and voice talent could not be used to produce one video for both countries. This would not be best practice. This is where Metro came into play.

Problem 1: Language dialects and cultural nuances

Native speaking translators with expertise in multimedia localization were required to bring this project to life. Localization had not been handled the proper way since translators of incorrect regions had been hired. The end result would not represent the client professionally in France.

Problem 2: One stop shop needed

Dropbox had a certain budget to be spent on the video localization process. Yet, by going to multiple companies for translators, voice over talents, hiring experienced sound/video engineers and graphic designers was not possible within the set budget. The client needed to look for one company to handle all aspects of the localization production which would allow them to create their videos on time and within budget.

How we helped Dropbox:

  • You needed an experienced localization company with experienced translators and top voice talent.
  • You had to stay within a set budget and the project must be produced on time.
